Located in Buenos Aires, PIEL is a non-profit civil association created to support research, teaching, and assistance of patients that suffer from congenital malformations of all forms. In its eight-year history, PIEL has used an interdisciplinary approach to treatment that has enabled them to help over 1500 children in the area. The team at Asociaciòn PIEL, led by Dr. Ricardo D. Bennun, has provided 362 Smile Train surgeries for poor patients in Argentina.

Cleft Lip in Concordia
Cleft Lip in Concordia, a non-profit organization in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was established to help impoverished children who are in need of cleft lip and palate medical care. There are a large number of untreated clefts in Argentina due to poor economic conditions and a lack of plastic surgeons available to the underprivileged. The Smile Train began partnering with Cleft Lip in Concordia, directed by Dr. Armando S. Kostianovsky, in late 2004 to enable them to provide cleft treatment to 10 indigent children. Next year, The Smile Train will support Cleft Lip in Concordia and an additional 10 children in need of cleft treatment.

Rotaplast San Rafael
Since it's inception in November 1997, the goal of the Rotaplast San Rafael program is to give complete treatment to very poor children with clefts, who live in the south area of Mendoza province. Since November 1997, the program has helped more than 145 children and adults who would otherwise never receive such specialized medical treatment. A Treatment Grant from The Smile Train will contribute towards the purchase of surgical instruments for the program.
