Dr. Bing Shi, a Chinese expert on cleft lip and palate and Dr. Yongming
Zhang, trained 20 doctors in Lhasa, Tibet on the latest developments
in cleft surgical and anesthesiology techniques. An Education &
Treatment Grant from The Smile Train funded the project and enabled
50 children to receive cleft care during the training held in the
summer of 2002.
The Smile Train has awarded West China Stomatology Hospital with an Education and Training Grant to fund a cleft palate workshop from October 18th – 29th. During the 12 days of training, medical professionals will learn the new advancements in cleft palate repair.
