The Smile Train Speech Conference
The Smile Train’s approach to dealing with clefts is to attack
the problem from many directions. In China, while pediatrics, surgery,
and otolaryngology are all strong suits, speech-language pathology
remains a weak link. Through an Education and Training Grant from
The Smile Train, Linda D’Antonio, Ph.D. and Prof. Ningyi Li
of Qingdao University organized a conference that addressed this
issue. The Conference took place at the Qingdao Sanatorium of the
Ministry of Posts and Telecom on June 7-9, 2002. 250 medical professionals
attended.
