Community Cares for Kids
Community Cares for Kids was founded by Dr. and Mrs. Francis J. Collini who have been involved with charitable work abroad for the past ten years, assisting underprivileged children suffering from congenital birth defects, mostly in Ecuador. Community Cares for Kids, with Dr. and Mrs. Collini, have made a commitment to bring help to as many children as possible. The Smile Train has provided them with a grant for the treatment of 60 children with cleft in Ecuador.

Fundación El Cielo para los Niños del Ecuador
Fundación El Cielo para los Niños del Ecuador is based in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and facilitates missions in every province in Ecuador to provide free medical care to those who can't afford treatment. Using both local and international teams, they provide a wide array of medical assistance, including reconstructive plastic surgery, cardiology, orthopedic, general & trauma surgery, and more.

With a Treatment Grant awarded in August, 2006, The Smile Train is supporting their cleft lip and palate missions to remote areas with their own local Ecuadorian plastic surgeons experienced in cleft repairs: Dr. Francisco Miguel Tenorio Carrasco and Dr. Miguel Orlando Rodróguez Vascónez. The Fundación expect to complete 200-300 cleft surgeries annually.

Interplast Incubator Site
In Guayaquil, Ecuador, The Smile Train is funding an Incubator Program through Interplast, Inc. where over 200 children with clefts will be treated. Interplast oversees and manages the local program led by Dr. Jorge Palacios. Since joining the program in 1999, Dr. Palcios has steadily been assisting children born with clefts in need of primary surgical repair. Increasingly greater numbers of indigent children will have their cleft lip and palate repaired through this program.
