Sohag University Hospital is The Smile Train’s first affiliate in Egypt. Located in Sohag, one of the poorest parts of Egypt, South Valley provides medical care to thousands of indigent people. For the past 10 years, South Valley has been providing free and discounted cleft care to those who cannot afford it. The number of children benefiting from this service is very limited due to a lack of financial support. With the help of a Smile Train Treatment Grant, 10 impoverished children will receive cleft lip and palate surgery for free. Dr. Samia Mohammed Ahmed Saied will be overseeing this project.
