Operation Good Samaritan
The division of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda University has been involved in volunteer surgical missions and cleft repairs for the past 20 years. In 2000, a directorship for the program was established and allowed greater organizational structure for more trips and longer missions. The three fold mission of Operation Good Samaritan involves: to provide direct patient care in underserved regions of the world, to train local caregivers in these developing regions, and to inspire the residents to a lifelong commitment of international service that promotes health, healing, and wholeness. Recently, Operation Good Samaritan was in India on a mission. The Smile Train provided them with a grant for their next trip to Malawi.
