Amin Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Hospital
At the Amin Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Hospital, located in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, cleft patients have been receiving treatment for the past two years. Amin Hospital became a Smile Train Partner in early 2005; the Smile Train project is overseen by Dr Mohammad Mughese Amin. Through this Partnership, more than 85 children have received the free cleft surgery they so desperately need.

Liaquat University of Medical &Health Sciences
Liaquat University has been providing discounted and free cleft lip and palate surgery for the past 21 years. Pakistan is an impoverished country and this brings a long waiting list of children who need and cannot afford cleft surgery. The Cleft Lip & Palate Association of Pakistan
Dr Ghulam Qadir Fayyaz helps manage The Cleft Lip & Palate Association of Pakistan (CLAPP) at Plastic Surgery Hospital Lahore, in Lahore. The Smile Train's Partnership with CLAPP has enabled Dr Fayyaz and his cleft team to provide more surgeries to children in Pakistan suffering with cleft lip and palate. Since the partnership began in 2004, more than 1,500 poor patients have received free cleft care. This year alone, CLAPP’s goal is to perform 800 cleft surgeries, and they are expected to complete that goal in September, well ahead of the end of the year.
The Smile Train was happy to provide an Education and Training Grant to the Cleft Lip & Palate Association of Pakistan to support the First Symposium on Cleft Lip and Palate, which was held in February, 2004. The Smile Train also provided a second Education and Training Grant to support the Second Symposium on Cleft Lip and Palate held in March, 2005. Both of the symposiums were held at Punjab Medical College in Faisalabad, Pakistan, and more than 175 cleft medical professionals were trained.
