Asociación Paz Holandesa
Asociación Paz Holandesa has been active in Peru since 2000. The foundation was initiated by Mrs. Marjan van Mourik and Dr. Daniel Paz y Geuze in 1999. The foundation focuses on the treatment, rehabilitation and re-integration of children with congenital defects. Asociación Paz Holandesa started with organizing plastic surgery projects in Cuzco, Lima and Arequipa and has been treating cleft patients for the past 6 years. A children’s clinic was opened in 2001 in Arequipa (second city of Peru). Asociación Paz Holandesa plans to provide free cleft surgeries for at least 150 poor children with the help of a grant from the Smile Train.

Asociación San Lucas-Moyobamba
Asociación San Lucas has been serving the community in Moyobamba, Peru with medical clinics, health and nutrition education, agriculture projects, and corrective surgeries for many years. They have a strong commitment to treating children with clefts have been providing cleft surgeries for indigent children for the past 13 years. With the help of a grant from The Smile Train, Asociación San Lucas will be able to provide 40 more children with a new smile and a new hope.

Asociación San Lucas-San Martín
Asociación San Lucas-San Martín has been providing surgeries to correct cleft lip and palate for the past 13 years. Whereas they receive support from Peruvian and American doctors, they will be able to treat more poor children with a Treatment Grant from Smile Train awarded in October, 2006. Dr. Jorge Jordan, Manager of the Department of Reconstructive Surgery at the Morillas Clinic in Lima, will be performing the surgeries.

Armonizar
Armonizar is a non-profit organization founded in Peru in 1997, dedicated to fostering physical, psychological, and spiritual harmony in children with cleft lip and palate. Armonizar is made up of professionals in different specialties, seeking to provide comprehensive cleft rehabilitation to children of very limited economic resources. They also offer children’s families the information and support that they need. Armonizar is currently working in three cities in Peru (Lima, Trujillo, and Chincha) as well as one city in Colombia (Medellin). The Smile Train provides Armonizar with Treatment Grants that support post-operative care in the form of speech therapy sessions for children who have previously received cleft lip and palate surgery from Cirplast, a Smile Train Partner. The speech therapy sessions are supervised by Dr. German Alvarado and Dr. Jose Sapaico.

Interplast Incubator Sites
The Smile Train is funding two Incubator Sites in Peru through Interplast, Inc. Interplast provides management and oversight for the sites, while Dr. Jorge De La Cruz, a surgeon based in Piura, and Dr. Percy Rossell Perry, from Lima, are dedicating their time on an ongoing basis to help poor children with cleft lip and palate receive the surgical care they need.

Operation San Jose
An Education and Training Grant gave two surgical residents from Peru the opportunity for two weeks of training under Amado Ruiz-Razura, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.I.C.S, Co-Director of Operation San Jose, at the Christus St. Joseph's Hospital, Houston, Texas. A renewal of the grant in 2001 continues to fund the education of doctors in developing countries.

Organización en Cirugía Plástica del Perú
The Smile Train has been able to reach children born with cleft lip and palate in Peru through its surgical partnership with Organización en Cirugía Plástica del Perú (Cirplast), a non-profit organization specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Carlos E. Navarro, M.D., President of Cirplast, is leading as Project Director for the cleft lip and palate team at the Hospital Cayetano Heredia in Lima. The team has already helped 490 poor children with clefts in Peru through Smile Train's support and will provide treatment for an additional 150 children this year.
