American Society of Plastic Surgeons/Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation
More research studies in cleft lip and palate are now possible through The Smile
Train funding of the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation (PSEF), which
is a non-profit organization that functions as the philanthropic and educational
arm of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPS).
Both organizations are dedicated to the highest standards in the teaching
and practice of plastic surgery and to the overall improvement in patient
care.
The Smile Train and PSEF have partnered to develop and support The Smile Train
Cleft Lip and Palate Research Initiative, a program to provide directed grants
for healthcare professionals to perform research in the areas of etiology,
treatment, or care for people with cleft lip and palate. PSEF is offering research
grant opportunities through its Directed Research Grant Committee and has established
an application and evaluation process for the Research Initiative
