Smile Train Research Scholars Program
The Smile Train sponsored 34 undergraduate internship positions for the summer 2000. Intern projects were in research, training, and treatment programs committed to helping children with clefts. Student interns represented 20 universities including Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, DePauw University, Emory University, The Johns Hopkins University, North Carolina State University, Stanford University, State University of New York at Stony Brook, University of California at Berkeley, University of California at Riverside, University of Miami, University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania, University of Pittsburgh, University of Texas, University of Virginia, and University of Western Australia. Three scholars' submission of their abstracts to the American Cleft Palate Association were accepted, and several scholars have submitted their work to scientific journals for publication as a result of their participation in the scholars program.
